Super mixer Chris Lord-Alge features in a unique video interview with Nigel Jopson. Chris talks about compression, EQ, favourite recording equipment and much more in an epic 40 minute video.
Special thanks to Chris and Nigel Jopson for letting the cameras intrude in to their fascinating conversation.
Chris is brother of Tom Lord-Alge - another leading recording and mixing engineer. He gained fame while working at New York City's Unique Recording Studios in the '80s mixing hit records including:
'Living In America', soundtrack for Rocky IV, Tina Turner 'Foreign Affair', Chaka Khan 'Destiny', Batman soundtrack, Joe Cocker, Carly Simon 'Coming Around Again', remixes of Madonna's 'La Isla Bonita', Rolling Stones 'Too Much Blood' and Bruce Springsteen's 'Dancing in the Dark'.
More recently Chris is associated with his excellent mixes of Green Day and Smashing Pumpkins. Chris is well known for his heavy use of compression in and in-the-box but he say's he most likes his vintage blue stripe 1176's for getting that 'vocal sound'.
