Jaime Gomez Arellano

Mike Exeter headed up the M1 to visit Jaime's new Orgone Studios in Bedfordshire. This video runs just under 10 minutes and hopefully you'll get a good flavour of what the new studio and Jaime is about.

The new studio is based in a converted World War Two radio station in a very attractive countryside location. Space is huge and the sound of the room is lovely with an isolation area and kitchen it's the perfect tracking facility which features SSL's AWS 948 console and more Marshall amps than we've seen in many years. The focus of Jaime has been to provide excellent choices of drums and guitar cabs rather than get superfulous signal processing - getting the sounds right at source is key.

Visit Orgone Studios website for further information!

Special thanks to Mike Exeter for taking the time out to record this feature!

In this 35 minute video Russ Russell starts the conversation with Jaime Gomez talking about how he got started. Jaime tells us about the very modest set-up that he started with and how that's led to amassing a huge amount of guitar amps. Both agree that selling old equipment's never a good idea.

We move on to guitar recording techniques, not so much mic placement but more the approach in setting up. We move to microphone choices and then on to the subject of compression.

The next video will cover long studio hours and not getting in a rut. Later sections will look at the subject of what production is and what it involves, from band politics to musical and creative input.

Special thanks to Parlour Sound Studios for giving us access and to both Jaime and Russ for sparing their time!
