As Senior Recording Engineer, Peter Cobbin plays a leading role in the continual development of Abbey Road Studios. Before joining Abbey Road Studios in 1995, Peter studied electronic engineering and music, originally training as a music engineer at EMI Sydney. Peter then chose to become a freelance engineer and producer working on a variety of recordings throughout Australia.
Peter has an appreciation and understanding of analogue recording techniques and has developed a unique style that marries vintage equipment with the best digital technology available. Peter enjoys both pop and classical recording and has worked with some of the world's most talented artists and producers.
Since 1997, Peter has developed skills in mixing music for 5.1 surround sound and has been involved in detailed remixing from original multitrack masters and live concerts.Notably, recent projects include mixing the film score and soundtracks of Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King with Howard Shore, surround mixing for DVD projects John Lennon Legend and U2 Go Home, Live At Slane Castle, and remixing The Beatles Anthology for DVD release, creating 3 new soundtracks in Dolby 5.1 surround, DTS 5.1 surround and PCM stereo.
