RESIDENTIAL
FOR BANDS ON THE RUN FROM THE CITY!
STOP
PRESS: STUDIO CLOSED
New Rising Studios now feature the
amazing Focusrite mixing console that was previously at Metropolis
Studios. Having been the board that recorded many many
hit records for the likes of Queen we will be re-recording
the studio tour in the near future!
New Rising is a brand new residential studio that aims to offer recording artists and producers a creative and inspiring atmosphere in
which to tracklay and mix both single and album projects.
Located in one of the most picturesque parts of North Essex and set in
an acre of private gardens, New Rising is a fully equipped facility with
a substantial live room that is ideally suited to recording bands.
The studio is owned by producer Mark Daghorn whose production credits
include Marillion, Fish, John Wesley, Katherine Crowe, David Booth, Area
54 and The Positive Light.
Daghorn originally intended to use the facility for his own projects and
also as a base to record artists signed to his record label, Positive
Records. However, New Rising's reputation as a great place to work spread so fast that Daghorn decided to respond to external enquiries by
opening the studio as a fully commercial venture.
"We hosted our first commercial sessions for Cradle of Filth and
Hangnail during February and March and these were a huge success,"
Daghorn says. "We are now attracting a lot of interest from labels such
as Road Runner, Eagle Rock, Rise Above Records, Helicon (Israel), One
Fifteen Management and V2 America who are keen to use the studio because
we offer such good value for money."
"Our philosophy is very simple: we believe that artists respond best if
they are given a relaxed and informal environment in which to work. We
also recognize that in today's economic climate it is important to offer
realistic rates, so we have deliberately pitched our pricing at a level
most bands can afford."
New Rising is housed in an unusual 1970s building with a strong Scandinavian feel, which was designed by renowned architect Brian
Thomas. Accommodation is of the highest standard, with TV and video in
every bedroom. There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool and fantastic catering, which is looked after by
Daghorn's Barbadian wife,
Jules, who specializes in traditional Caribbean dishes. There are also
plenty of local pubs within easy walking distance of the studio.
The control room, situated on the ground floor, is equipped with a 56-input DDA DCM232 console with full automation. Other equipment
includes an Otari MTR90 24-track tape machine; a Mitsubishi X850
32-track digital tape machine; JBL 4312A and Yamaha NS10 monitoring;
Tascam DA30 and DA20 DAT machines and a wide range of outboard equipment
and microphones. Both the control room and studio area have natural daylight and are in full visual contact.
One of the studio's most recent clients - Rise Above Records' signing
Hangnail ? was booked in by A&R executive Will Palmer. He says:
"I'm a big fan of residential studios because they give bands like Hangnail an
opportunity to work in comfort and without distractions. New Rising is
ideal because it is technically well equipped, not too far from London
and offers a great service with no compromises. I was also impressed by
its affordability and by the fantastic Caribbean food."
