Join us on the 'record in a day' session

Masterclasses generally have just one teacher, we have three busy and in-demand producers showing you how to really zero in on what matters and focus on making a hit. With credits ranging from metal to pop to folk, our producers have ideas and inspiration for every budding engineer and working professional - no matter what styles of music that they are in to.

This is an exclusive event with very limited spaces to avoid disruption. The session is to be filmed for RecordProduction.com and, in addition to the three main producers, we will be joined by other industry experts that will interact with the session and offer a huge depth of experience. Later on, we will be holding a producer networking event at the studio enabling attendees to meet and discuss their production issues, making this unlike any normal 'training session'.

Book now and learn from three great producers

Imagine being next to a great musician in a fantastic studio surrounded by state of the art equipment with three leading producers and engineers being shown techniques you'd probably never thought of. Imagine spending a day having your skills and creativity expanded, pushed in new directions and being inspired to make records that sound fabulous and punch out way above the crowd - led by a gang of driven and successful producers.

The price

In order to cover the costs of studio hire, producers, food and other expenses but keep the numbers of attendees to a minimum, people who would like to join us can book their place for £249. Only a small number of places are on offer to ensure that the session flows freely. This will not be a class full of students, it will be a real session with real producers and just a few special guests.

What you will get

As an attendee you will be amoung just a few other guests. You will spend a whole day with leading producers and engineers recording a complete track in a day with a full range of instruments. You will have all food and refreshments covered with time to discuss your individual production issues or problems with people that have 'been there and done that' many, many times. You'll receive a range of insights and advice from not only the three host producers but by the other engineers and producers at the recording and later networking event in the evening. We will show how to use very inexpensive equipment to get excelent results and our objective is to enable you to take stock and think about how you can be much more effective and successful.

Mike Exeter

mike exeter behind the ssl mixing board

Mike is a Producer, Musician and Engineer from the UK. Based in the Midlands he has travelled extensively to bring Artists’ ideas to reality.

From the Dark, Seedy days of the “Mickey Mouse Club” for Disney, via Black Metal, Reggae and Classic Rock and most genres in-between, to the inventors of Heavy Rock and Metal, Mike has achieved international success with a variety of Top Ten and Number One records.

He works with the artist from an early stage to make sure the songs and performances are in great shape before capturing them in the studio. Writing and arranging in such varied locations as overlooking a Volcano in New Zealand, sitting by the Ocean in California and in artists’ private residences have created a unique source of inspiration and vibe resulting in performances that often make it to the finished record.

Recent achievements include Black Sabbath’s “13” record resulting in Multiple International Number ones and a Grammy Award for his engineering, Producing Judas Priest’s “Redeemer of Souls” (At Number One - the highest charting record in their 40 year career) and Co-Producing the final Record by the late Ronnie James Dio with his Sabbath Bandmates.

Highlights include working with Producers and Artists such as Rick Rubin, Andy Sneap, Eddie Kramer, Dan Sprigg, Kit Woolven, Tony Iommi, Glenn Tipton, Bob Marlette, Pat Collier, Jon Robb, Jean Beauvoir, Ronnie James Dio, Jeff Beck, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Cradle Of Filth, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, UB40, The Specials, Glenn Hughes, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord, Sonic Altar, Jaguar (N.W.O.B.H.M), Terrorhawks

Mike is inspired by Bob Clearmountain, Quincy Jones, George Martin, Bruce Fairburn and Peter Gabriel (amongst many others) - all musicians who, in their respective “main” careers, have respected the needs and goals of the song and, in doing so, continually raised the bar for what we do.
