GearBox (Sound and Vision) has launched a range of ‘SSL Mobile Studio Systems’, an innovative new concept in professional music recording equipment rentals.

The ‘SSL Mobile Studio Systems’ are a series of large-scale, studio equipment bundles based around Solid State Logic’s latest analogue music recording consoles, the ground-breaking, large-format Duality, and the medium-scale AWS900+.

The new SSL Duality and AWS900+ offer the legendary sonic quality that has made SSL world-renowned in console manufacturing, plus the ability to digitally control most of the popular DAW systems currently available to the market, including; Digidesign Pro Tools|HD, Apple Logic Pro, MOTU Digital Performer and Steinberg Nuendo.

The ‘SSL Mobile Duality’ will feature a 48-channel console, and the ‘SSL Mobile AWS900+’ a 24-channel console; adding SSL Xlogic Xrack modules to the systems will offer easy expansion of the channel count.

The SSL console bundles will be made available with a choice of latest generation Digidesign Pro Tools|HD systems including; the ‘standard’ HD3 Accel 24ch I/O and the ‘maxed out’ HD3 Accel 48ch I/O, systems can be further expanded with more DSP, or more I/O as per the end users requirements. A comprehensive choice of front-end softwares, plug-ins, vintage and classic outboard processors, reverbs, delays, microphones and speaker monitoring systems will be available as bolt-on options.

GearBox are promising they will be able to ship and install the ‘SSL Mobile Studio Systems’ to anywhere in the world, offering producers, engineers and recording artists the ability to create a professional track-laying and mixing environment at any location of their choosing.

GearBox, Managing Director, Richard Eastwood commented, “The main catalyst for the ‘SSL Mobile Studio Systems’ has been the introduction of the new SSL Duality console, this really is the first large-format music recording console that comes in a form factor that is easily broken-down, transported and reassembled.”

Richard continues, “The size of the frame itself and the fact that the associated powering and back-end system are so compact makes this console relatively easy to move around and install at any practical location.”ssl duality available for hire - gear box

Richard concludes, “If you consider some of the classic albums recorded using mobile studios, including; Exile On Main Street, Machine Head, Led Zeppelin IV and OK Computer, to name but a few, it’s hardly a new idea, but what certainly is a new is the ability to use a large-format, next generation console for this type of recording scenario.”

The ‘SSL Mobile Studio Systems’ will be available from February 2007, and will come supplied with a comprehensive choice of 24/7 technical support options. Rental rates will depend on the bundle offered, the location and duration of the rental, for further information please contact Richard Eastwood at GearBox’s West London headquarters.
