Tom is a producer, composer and arranger who has done award-winning work for film, advertising and records.
His film work can be heard in Beer, Night of the Creeps, Excessive Force, Caught in the Crossfire, Girlfriends, The Key, and the Martha Coolidge film Not a Pretty Picture. The Key, which he scored with Jonathan Helfand, won the 1996 National Education Fiction Video Award.
Tom has written and produced countless TV and Radio commercials. He has produced such artists as Michael Bolton, Marc Cohn, Ry Cooder, Fats Domino,Dave Edmunds, Allen Toussaint, Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Rogers and George Benson for a blue-chip list of clients that includes the Miller Brewing Company, Hyundai N.A., Mars, Helene Curtis and Campbell's. Among his commercial compositions is the song for Miller Genuine Draft's first campaign, It's as Real as It Gets, for which he won both Clio and NYMRAD awards for Best Musical Campaign. Tom produced Hyundai's debut campaign,Cars That Make Sense, for which he received a Cannes Silver Lion. He also produced The Art of Noise for Xerox's Revolution campaign, garnering another Clio. Some of his other jingles are Welcome to Millertime, Finesse's Sometimes You Need A Little, Grab on to That M&M's Feeling and Starburst's Turn Your Tastebuds Loose.
Currently, Tom is working with 600 LBS, a production company based in Smithtown, New York. It's About Time, an album by Martha Trachtenberg that he produced and arranged, has been featured in The New York Times, reviewed in the Long Island Voice, and the lucy-list, and is being played on WUSB, WPKN, WPRB and other acoustic music oriented radio stations throughout the Northeast. His last album, The Better Half, was picked by the LI Voice as one of the Top Ten albums of 1997. His song, 'Wrestling with the Light,' is featured on the Voice's compilation CD, Those Damn Folkies, as well as Lawnguyland, the official album of the 1998 LI Music Awards, and his "Livin' in a Combat Zone" was on the LI Voice's 1999 Valentine's compilation CD, Jilted.
Tom divides his time between New York City and East Northport, LI, where he lives with his wife and son.
