Studio Tour

RAK Studios

Video features recorded at RAK

We still have yet to record a proper video tour around the classic, historic and most amazing London studio, RAK. We have tried a few times but we will get there in the end!

RAK Studios started life in 1976 by the legendary record producer Mickie Most. Mickie converted what was an old Victorian school house and church hall into a cutting edge (for the time) recording studio complex that included residential accommodation. RAK has been the host to both musical legends and young bands alike.

Some of RAK's clients include:

The Vaccines, Placebo, Rumer, The Kills, Keane, Stereophonics, Plan B, Nigel Kennedy, Shakira, Razorlight, Florence & The Machine, Arctic Monkeys, Tom Jones, Mark Ronson, Dido, Paolo Nuttini, Paul McCartney, The Who, Yes, Duran Duran, Big Country, Simply Red, The Cure, Moody Blues, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Ultravox, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Wet Wet Wet, Status Quo, Elton John, Level 42, Barry Manilow, Ben E King, Sting, Chris Rea, Pink Floyd, Stone Roses, The Jam, Adam and the Ants, Gerry Rafferty, Dionne Warwick, Gary Numann, Joan Armatrading, Thin Lizzy, The Police, XTC, ABC, The Smiths, Ricky Lee Jones, Pet Shop Boys, Gallagher and Lyle, Sinead O'Connor, Allison Moyet, Icehouse, Ocean Colour Scene, Robert Plant, Robert Palmer, Kirsty McColl, Robbie Nevi, INXS, The La's, Johnny Hates Jazz, Erasure, Brand New Heavies, Scott Walker, Radiohead, Al Green, Robbie Williams, Elvis Costello, Kula Shaker, Cast, Travis, Bernard Butler, Ace of Base, Aswad, Hot Chocolate, Fine Young Cannibals, New Order, Manic Street Preachers, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Natalie Imbruglia and many, many more!

RAK Studios are just north of Regents Park with some great restaurants and pubs a stone's throw away. There's easy access to public transport.

There are four ground level studios, each has natural daylight. Studio 1 and 2 have classic API desks. Studio 3 has a vintage Neve VRP 60 Legend console and the boutique mixing room Studio 4 previously housed an SSL 4056 desk but now is an ATMOS mix suite (see Ken Scott feature below).

For many years the recording studios were the production facility of the hugely successful RAK record label. Today, RAK Recording Studios is used by some of the most outstanding artists in the music business.

Meanwhile, the following features have been recorded at RAK Studios and give a flavour of these legendary studios.
