Mike Bennett has been producing, writing and remixing since the early eighties gaining several Gold discs. As well as being a member of the Fall, he produced several albums for them including 'Cerebral Caustic' and the acclaimed 'Light User Syndrome' as well as the indie chart topping single 'The Chislers'. This led to Mike’s work with Ian Brown for whom he co-wrote the hit single 'Golden Gaze'. George Shilling popped in to Far Heath Studios to talk with Mike about his career and unique working methods.
Whilst working in house at Trojan records Mike produced and remixed many classic artists including Gregory Isaacs, Jimmy Cliff, Denis Brown, Toots and the Maytels Ken Boothe, and the Specials for whom he remixed 'Too much Too Young’, ‘Gangsters and Concrete Jungle’. Mike also remixed several Bob Marley and the Wailers tracks including 'Soul Shakedown Party' and 'Mr. Brown' which were featured on the Bob Marley compilation 'Behind the legend'.

Mike has also produced albums for many rock acts including Hazel O’Conner (Ignite), The Stranglers (Clubbed to death), The Sweet (Solid Gold Action), Re-works (Emerson, Lake and Palmer) and several albums for Wishbone Ash including 'Timeline', ‘Trance visionary' and ‘Physic Terrorism’.
Other artists Mike has produced and written for include, The BMX Bandits, Kim Fowley, Bad Manners, and Toyah for whom he wrote and produced the Album 'Dreamchild'.
For labels such as Demon and MCI Mike has produced and Mixed several big selling compilations including 'Drum and bass mania' ,'Drum and Bass frenzy', 'The Jungle collection' and 'Trance action'.
