Drum recording techniques with Matt Taylor

Shot at ARC Studios with Damo Webster playing the drums and 2 x Grammy winning Cameron Craig producing, this short video captures the spirit of the studio and the engineers expertise and helps explain why Matt Taylor won the British MPG's Rising Star award 2022.

Matt walks us around his drum recording session and covers the drum placement, treatment and the microphone choices & positioning with some really GREAT audio samples to audition - we think you will be impressed at the drum sound that Matt is getting with this setup.

The drum kit is a Yamaha custom recording kit. Placed in the corner of the recording space aimed in to the middle of the room and with good sight-lines to the control room.

Special thanks to Damo Webster for playing drums for us, Issac Neilson for letting us take up time from his session, Cameron Craig for also letting us eat in to his recording schedule and to everyone at the very lovely ARC Studios based just outside of Oxford, England. Super special thanks to Matt Taylor!!
