Studio Tour

Catalyst Studio

Andy Bowes' studio tour

Owner Andy Bowes has upgraded to a new desk with the lock-down giving time to wire up and fine tune the newly upgraded control room and as you can see, the range of three main recording spaces gives plenty of flexibility and isolation, perfect for going for live takes with a band or having the options that a variety of spaces gives. Russell Cottier works at this studio a lot so it was great to have him walk through the studios with owner Andy to chat about what's on offer.

There are no problems with parking and being situated centrally in the town centre you are moments away from the Bus Station and only a few minutes walk from St.Helens Central Train Station. Some of the studios clients include:

Ginger Wildheart Band / Hey! Hello!/Mutation, Jez Kerr (A Certain Ratio), Stephen Morris (Joy Division, New Order), Johnny Vegas (Woolyback Productions), Violet Youth, Hanover, Viola Beach, The Messiahs and many more.. .

Located in the heart of the 'cultural quarter' in St.Helens, in a refurbished old school building, Catalyst Studios offers modern state of the art rehearsal and recording studios. The studios opened in 2005 and were designed and built by The Studio People, a highly regarded studio design and installation company.

All recording areas are soundproofed with air-conditioning and natural light. There is a good range of equipment available for musicians including two studio drum kits to choose from. The recording equipment is extensive and revolves around the brand new SSL ORIGIN mixing console and a large selection of other mic pre's for different 'colours' are in the rack.

On the tour you'll get an idea about the recording and studio equipment on offer but visit the Catalyst Studios website (link below) for the full details
